The IGSA is excited to announce the addition of the Malarrara Pro Teutonia World Cup to the 2008 IGSA World Cup Series. Teutonia, Brazil will be the location of the fastest downhill skateboard and street luge event in history October 24-26, 2008.
Last year GPS registered speeds of over 125km/h (77.6 mph) were reached in Downhill Skateboard and over 139km/h (86.3 mph) for Street Luge. The IGSA will be using a precision Tag Hauer speed trap this year to establish Official IGSA World Speed Records.
The event website www.malarraraproteutonia.com will be online in a few days. Competitors will race in two-man heats and battle it out for R$6000 prize purse. The entry fee will be R$200 per discipline. There will be an Official Lodge for athletes. The price will be R$150 from Oct 23-26 including breakfast. Participants should fly into Porto Alegre (POA).
The IGSA understands it will be difficult for many competitors to make plans to travel to Brazil on only nine weeks notice. It is very important for the future growth of the sport to include a World Cup event in South America. It is also very important for South American competitors to be included in the IGSA World Cup Series. For these reasons we have decided to include the event in the 2008 schedule. We have made a commitment for two years so Teutonia will also be on the 2009 IGSA World Cup schedule.
Past Teutonia Champions include:
Downhill Skateboard
2004 Champion - Douglas Silva - Brazil
2005 Champion - Douglas Silva - Brazil
2006 Champion - Everton Eso - Brazil
2007 Champion - Kevin Reimer - Canada
Street Luge
2004 Champion - Denis - Brazil
2005 Champion - Beni Weber - Switzerland
2006 Champion - Alessandro Pixoxó - Brazil
2007 Champion - Dave Rogers – United States
We look forward to this exciting new addition to the IGSA World Cup Series and welcome all of our South American brothers and sisters back to the downhill family.
