The “Maryhill Festival of Speed” is the premier gravity sports racing event in North America and features International Gravity Sports Association (IGSA) World Cup competitions for the sports of Downhill Skateboarding, Street Luge, Downhill Inline Skating and Gravity Bike. The 2008 event is scheduled for August 27-31 in Goldendale, Washington. “We’re very excited that Telemundo is featuring the Maryhill Festival of Speed”, said IGSA President Marcus Rietema. “Showcasing our events to the Spanish language market is very important for the IGSA and our sponsors.”
Ritmo Deportivo (translated as Rhythm Sports in English) is a weekly television series airing Sundays at 3:00pm ET with a rebroadcast at 11:30pm ET. The series is hosted by Leti Coo and Karim Mendiburu and is geared generally to men ages 18 to 24 and focuses mostly on action sports. Each week's episode is filmed in different locations around the United States, Mexico or elsewhere around the world. The Telemundo network reaches 93 percent of U.S. Hispanic households in 142 markets via over-the-air, cable and satellite TV.
The International Gravity Sports Association (IGSA) is an international sanctioning body for gravity racing sports, athletes and events, featuring a 6-race World Cup Championship Series for 2008. IGSA events involve head to head downhill racing competitions where participants routinely reach speeds in excess of 110km/h (65mph) as they hurtle themselves down mountain roads negotiating ninety degree bends and hairpin corners.
