Petaluma, California – The IGSA is pleased to announce the 2011 IGSA Circuito Sudamericano de Downhill. Five South American events will make up the inaugural season with races in Argentina, Columbia, Peru, and Brazil.
The fifth event in Chile is still awaiting final confirmation but that is nearly certain At season’s end, Champions will be crowned in Open Downhill Skateboarding, Women’s Downhill Skateboarding, Jr I & Jr II Downhill Skateboarding, Street Luge and Classic Luge.
The Circuito Sudamericano de Downhill will be comprised of both World Cup and Continental level races however all events will award the same number of points to the winner. Each riders’ best four finishes will count toward their points total. Champions will be crowned in each division at the final event of the season.
IGSA President Marcus Rietema said, “Downhill skateboarding is exploding in South America and more events have expressed a desire to become a part of the IGSA Series. With the launch of the Circuito Sudamericano de Downhill, we can accommodate more events that want to be part of an IGSA Championship. More competitors in South America will now have the chance to go after the Sudamericano title.”
