Bathurst, Australia- Fans of Downhill Skateboarding and Street luge will be receiving an unprecedented amount of coverage of this weekend’s Newton’s Playground / IGSA World Championships.  Video of each days action and will be available here at www.IGSAworldcup.com in association with www.skatehorde.com.

The Australian Skateboard Racing Association (ASRA) has laid down 2.5 km (2 mi) of cabling on Mt Panorama in order to capture all the action.  Cameras are being placed at the Start Line, the Dipper, the Esses, Forest Elbow and the Finish Line.  The video will be mixed live to follow racers down the mountain and capture all the days racing.  Bricin Lyons from Coastlongboarding.com will be providing the expert commentary.

The video will be captured on a computer, edited during the day, encoded and then uploaded to a video server. The video producers believe this is better than live video stream since it will allow people online to watch the racing over and over.

Another benefit is that overseas viewers will not need to stay up over night to watch the racing.  The video will be available online permanently so viewers can watch the next day or anytime throughout the year. ASRA expects the video to be available approximately two hours after the days’ activities end. They plan to film and upload all three days of video.

“We are very excited to bring this unprecedented level of coverage to fans of the IGSA World Cup Series”  said IGSA President Marcus Rietema.  “Newton’s Playground is shaping up to be the greatest event in our history with the strongest Downhill Skateboarding and Street Luge fields ever assembled for a an IGSAWorld Championship.”

Be sure to catch all the action beginning with the first round of qualifying beginning on Friday.
