Teutonia, Brazil- Douglas “Dalua” Silva retained the number one qualifying position for tomorrows Malarrara Pro Teutonia World Cup and lowered the track record in the process. The Brazilian star established a new track record of 1:17.723 beating his day old mark of 1:18.711 by nearly a full second.
Mischo Erban from Vernon, BC, Canada retained the number two position with a time of 1:19.601. His time was more than a full second faster than his Friday mark.Kevin Reimer from Vancouver, Canada moved into the number three position with a time of 1:20.421. His run moved him ahead of Martin Siegrist who couldn’t improve upon his Friday time. Scoot Smith made a huge move up in final qualifying to earn the fifth position with a time of 1:22.112. Tomorrow’s race is shaping up to be an incredible showdown between five of the biggest names in the sport.
Stephenson hangs on to the number one position
Will Stephenson from Wocester, England was unable to improve on the time he set Friday but neither could anyone else. Stephenson retained the number one qualifying position for tomorrow’s race. Yesterday’s number two qualifier Leo Borton crashed on his second qualifying attempt exiting the left hander at the top of the straightaway. He walked away from the crash uninjured and will start from the number two spot that he earned on Friday. Both Mario Jardim and Chris McBride improved their times from Friday but stayed in the number three and four starting positions respectively.

Chris McBride lowered his time from yesterdays first qualifying run and retained the number one starting position. Will Stephenson put in a solid run after crashing yesterday to move into the number two position. Andreas Johnson from Stockholm, Sweden also improved his time and will start third. The race is shaping up to be a real battle between these three riders. Only .122 seconds seperates the first three qualifiers!
Immediately following qualifying a heavy thunderstorm moved into the area dumping significant amounts of rainfall and washing out the afternoon session. The weather forecast is calling for increasingly better weather as the day progresses on Sunday.
