Mischo Erban is going home for the upcoming Kozakov Challenge / IGSA European Championships.  On August 12-15, Kozakov (near Turnov) in the Czech Republic, will be the site of the race.  The event will mark the first time that the IGSA has sanctioned a race in a former Eastern Bloc country and the first time that Erban has raced in his native land.

Although he now lives in Vernon, BC, Canada, Mischo was born and raised in Prague, Czech Republic.  In fact, his grandparents and much of his family still live there and he goes to visit them often.  The current IGSA ranked #2 Downhill Skateboarder even wears the Czech and Canadian flags on his leathers.  He's eager to race in his home country and speak his native language with the local spectators.  Look for Mischo to be extra motivated that entire weekend.  He'll definitely be a major threat to win the inaugural Kosakov Challenge / IGSA European Championships.

Aerial view of the 2009 European Championships Kozakov, Czech race course.
The Kozakov race course is approximately 3.4 km in length with everything from hairpin corners to high speed straights.  Top speeds in Downhill Skateboarding are expected to be in the 90 kp/h (56 mph) range with Street Luge and Classic luge speeds in excess 105 kp/h (65 mph).  It's a course that is certain to challenge even the most seasoned racer.

The organizers are setting up a large campground for the racers and there is also plenty of lodging available in the vicinity.  On Saturday evening, a huge racer party is being organized.  The first ever IGSA race in the Czech Republic promises to be unforgettable.
