Presented by Road Rider

On April 19, 2012, downhill skateboard racing returned to Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, California after a 31 year absence.  The event was organized jointly by Road Rider and the IGSA and sent a shockwave through the mainstream skateboarding world.

Although those who are involved in longboarding and downhill racing have been watching the sport grow slowly for the past 10+ years, many in the mainstream had no idea what was going on.  Thanks to NHS inc, parent company of Santa Cruz, Road Rider, Independent, OJ, Creature, Krux and many more well known skate brands, skateboard racing was able to return to Laguna Seca during the Sea Otter Classic Bicycling Festival.  An invitational field of 32 skaters battled it out for a $5000 purse.
